How Far Is Maywood from LAX?
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is about a 28-minute drive from Maywood Inn. That makes a direct car trip one option to compare with a public-transit route, which involves connecting from Maywood to the airport network.
For airport transportation, the key difference is how much of the trip you want to make by road versus transit. A taxi or ride app can take you directly to a terminal for departure. With Metro, you’ll need to reach a bus route serving the LAX/Metro Transit Center, then transfer to the airport shuttle for the terminals.

Driving and Taxi Options
A taxi or authorized ride app keeps the trip to LAX direct. At the airport, however, pickup rules differ from drop-off: departing passengers using taxis or ride apps must go to the LAX-it lot.
You can walk there beside Terminal 1 or take the free shuttle from green signs on the Lower/Arrivals Level; LAX says it arrives every 3 to 5 minutes.
LAX also lists taxi pickup locations inside Parking Structure 3, between Tom Bradley International Terminal and Terminal 3, and at the far end of Terminal 7 for passengers arriving at Terminals 7 and 8. Only taxis carrying an official seal issued by the City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation may pick up passengers at LAX.
Authorized companies include Bell Cab Company, Beverly Hills Cab Company, City Cab, Independent Taxi, United Checker Cab, United Independent Taxi Drivers, United Taxi of San Fernando Valley and Yellow Cab. For dispatch, LAX lists 310-646-9177.
For ride apps, LAX identifies Lyft, Opoli and Uber as authorized providers. Airport drop-offs can use terminal curbs on the Upper/Departures Level, but pickups use LAX-it. LAX says its airport fee applies to both ride-app drop-off and pickup trips, so include that in your comparison.

Public Transit and Airport Connections
Metro connections converge at the LAX/Metro Transit Center, served by the C Line and K Line and bus Lines 102, 111, 117, 120 and 232.
A free, frequent shuttle links Bus Bays 1 and 2 there with all LAX terminals. At the airport, the free Metro Connector shuttle boards at pink LAX Shuttle signs on the Lower/Arrivals Level outside each terminal.
For a bus-based route from Maywood, Metro Line 108 runs between Pico Rivera and Marina del Rey via Slauson Avenue, which passes through Maywood. Lines 111 and 117 connect to the LAX/Metro Transit Center, but the supplied route details don’t establish a direct transfer from Line 108. Check how the routes connect before choosing this option.
Line 111 runs between Norwalk Station and the LAX/Metro Transit Center via Florence Avenue. LAWA lists weekday service at about 30-minute intervals. Its westbound first departures to the transit center are 4:45 a.m. on weekdays, 3:33 a.m. Saturday and 4:41 a.m. Sunday; listed last departures are 12:41 a.m. on weekdays and 2:41 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Line 117 runs between Downey and the LAX/Metro Transit Center via Century Boulevard and Imperial Highway. LAWA lists weekday service at about 30-minute intervals. Westbound first departures are 4:03 a.m. on weekdays and 4:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday; listed last departures are 12:32 a.m. on weekdays and 1:39 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Metro’s regular one-way fare is $1.75, with free transfers within 2 hours when you tap to pay. The schedules and connection details can shape which line works for your flight, particularly for early or late departures.
Shuttles, Fares, and Pickup Rules
ShuttleToLAX lists Maywood among its service areas, but you need to enter your address in its booking widget to confirm service and get an instant quote. It does not give a fixed Maywood fare, so compare the quote with other transportation options before booking.
LAX FlyAway is another connection to consider only if you can reach one of its stops: it serves Union Station and Van Nuys, not Maywood. The listed one-way fare is $12.75, and cash is not accepted.
You can pay aboard with a contactless Mastercard or Visa credit or debit card, or use the LAX FlyAway app. Union Station departures to LAX begin at 5:00 a.m.; departures from LAX Terminal 1 to Union Station begin at 5:40 a.m.
Maywood Express is a free local city route, not an airport shuttle. It operates Monday through Saturday: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, with no Sunday service.
The service is free for residents, children and visitors, and accessible to wheelchair users. The city warns that traffic, weather and other conditions can affect schedules, so allow time for transfers. It does not operate on New Year’s Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day.
Maywood Express can help with local travel, but its schedule does not make it an airport connection by itself.
Route A’s schedule lists a first departure from Slauson Avenue and Loma Vista Avenue at 7:00 a.m. and a final listed departure at 4:28 p.m. If you’re considering it as part of a journey, confirm how you would connect onward to airport service.
Choosing a Route for Your Flight
Start by matching the option to your departure time. A taxi or ride app avoids a Metro transfer, while a transit journey requires a connection to the LAX/Metro Transit Center and then the free terminal shuttle.
For late or early flights, compare your planned departure against the listed Line 111 or 117 service times rather than assuming the routes run around the clock.
Next, compare the costs you can confirm: Metro’s $1.75 regular fare and free transfers within 2 hours when tapping to pay, or a shuttle provider’s address-based quote.
For a ride app, remember the airport fee applies to both pickups and drop-offs. If you’re arriving at LAX and taking a taxi or ride app, plan for the LAX-it pickup process; departures can be dropped at terminal curbs.
If your plans also include a game or event, see this Weingart Stadium visit guide for planning details. To check room options, visit Maywood Inn rooms.
Before you go: Routes, schedules, fares and airport pickup arrangements can change, so check the official site before you go. Consult Metro and LAWA for transit and airport details, the City of Maywood for Maywood Express, and the shuttle provider for a service quote.
